Ex Manchester United manager, David Moyes, was overwhelmed with euphoria as he masterminded his team to a stunning win over Barcelona, thanks to Jordi Alba’s own goal in the second minute of the game.
“I am very happy to get the result, it was a very important and it was a very hard game,” the Scottish football manager told the media.
“We worked hard defensively and defending is a big part of football. You don’t win games if you don’t defend well. The way that we played at the back gave us the chance to win this game.”
“I always hope that we have the ball in all our matches but against Barcelona you know that this is difficult.”
“This is something that we can improve on but I would like to emphasise the spirit of the team and the way we worked hard together.”
The Barcelona giants played without their star strikers, Lionel Messi and Neymar, which many fans believe is the reason why Barcelona lost. Luis Enrique was higly-criticized for his queer decision to rest the main players in this crucial game.
On the hand, their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, also lost 2-1 to Valencia in Mestella Stadium. If Barcelona had won against Moyes’ side, they would have regained and redeemed the top spot in La Liga table. But, unfortunately, they failed to capitalize this golden opportunity.
