The Chelsea manager failed to get his name even in the top three nominees for Fifa Coach of the Year Award; however he has been named the Coach of the Century Award by the Portuguese Football Federation at their star-studded cenetenary anniversary ceremony in Lisbon. The Poruguese Football Federation was founded in 1914 and after hundred years now, a grand ceremony was organized on Wednesday to celebrate their 100th anniversary. FIFA president Joseph Blatter and UEFA chief Michel Platini were also present on this glorious occasion. Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was named the best Portuguese best player of all time by the federation.
Mourinho has won number of glittering achievements including league titles in Italy, Spain and England. But the award was presented to him mainly for his amazing feats with the Poruguese club, FC Porto. Mourinho steered his team to scoop the Uefa Super Cup in 2004 and then guided them to win the ultimate glory of winning the Champions League in 2004.
After collecting the coveted trophy, Jose Mourinho was beaming with happiness and contentment. He spoke about his latest feat:
“Obviously the titles that I won with Porto in this context are the most important in my career because they were titles won with a Portuguese team for Portuguese soccer. With Porto it was a unique case because that was winning a Champions League final with nine Portuguese players. Would I like to see it happen again? Yes I would, yes.”
