West Ham
  • Joey O’Brien remains absent along with Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan, but Matt Jarvis stands a chance of returning from a thigh injury.
  • Alex Song could start after making a substitute appearance at Hull last week.
  • Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia formed a decent-looking strike partnership at Hull and may start up front together again, although a return to one up front is probably more likely against a team like Liverpool.


Liverpool
  • Martin Skrtel is back in training and could start here after missing the defeat to Aston Villa last week.
  • Brendan Rodgers could be tempted to revert to 4-3-1-2 with Sterling in the number 10 role rather than a 4-3-3. If he does, Rickie Lambert or Fabio Borini could play up front with Balotelli.
  • Meanwhile, Daniel Sturridge could be involved at some point, with Liverpool desperate for him to return.
  • Jon Flanagan has undergone knee surgery and will be out for a number of months, while Joe Allen is not fit enough to return.
